Principal Michele Kipp

Michele Kipp is the Principal of Covedale School. She transitioned to this role from the position as Assistant Principal at the Fairview-Clifton German Language School. Mrs. Kipp has experience as an administrator and instructional leader, and has an extensive knowledge of — and connections to — the Westside. Kipp spent a significant part of her early career in the Oak Hills School District.

“I am honored to serve as the Principal at Covedale Elementary and continue the work of the community to improve the educational programs, in and out of school, for students. Covedale’s ‘Tradition of Excellence’ is what holds us together in pursuit of the best options for our children to reach their full potential,” said Kipp.

Ashle Jones is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She grew up on the east side of town where she attended Pleasant Ridge Elementary school for K-8 then went on to graduate from Hughes High school. From there she attended Clark Atlanta University; in the heart of the Atlanta University Center, majoring in History and graduating with honors. 

She then moved back to Cincinnati where she work in the non-profit sector for some years while obtaining her master’s degree in education. She taught at a charter school teaching ELA grades 7-8. After this she joined the Peace Corps where she was a Youth and Community Development Volunteer in Niger. There she helped to promote equality in girls’ education, help with professional developments for English teachers and, started an English club.

After this experience, Ashle joined the Dallas-Fort Worth Teach for America Corps where she taught 5th-grade English and social studies for two years. Jones was then given the opportunity to be a founding 5th-grade social studies teacher at an Uncommon School in Brooklyn, New York. With all of the knowledge gained from Uncommon she was recruited to teach for a KIPP school in New Orleans where she has been teaching for the past five years. She has been recognized as a regional Spotlight Teacher and has been the recipient of the Student Choice Awards for two of the three years it was given. Currently, Jones has accepted a position as assistant principal of Covedale Elementary in Cincinnati, Ohio.
